Data aggregation, analytics and profile creation
We may analyse your browsing behaviour to draw inferences and create profiles about your personal preferences and behaviours. We may then use such information for the purposes described below.- Served by us
- We may use your information (including profile data) to serve you with advertising, which is relevant to you, on our websites and the websites of third parties.
- Served by third parties on our websites
- Advertisers or other third parties using our website may also engage in behavioural advertising and use cookies and web beacons in the manner described above. We do not control these advertisers or other parties' use of cookies or web beacons or what they do with the information they collect.
- Served by third parties on third party websites
- We may provide your personal information (including profile data) to third parties who may then use it in combination with personal information that they have collected from you to serve you with relevant advertising on third-party websites. We use Meta Business Tools (Formely known as Facebook) for advertising. They may use a range of tools including web beacons, cookies as well as other storage technologies to obtain information from our website (huntsengland.co.uk) and other websites that are not owned by us/have no connection with, in order to target and provide you with adverts and to allow them to provide measurement services (such as measuring conversion rates).
- We use a Meta pixel which is a small code of JavaScript that we have added to our website in order to help optimise our adverts, let us understand in more detail conversion rates and allow us to create custom audiences of our website vistors that we can then use more efficiently in our Facebook adverts (which may be shown on and off Facebook). Facebook says: "The Facebook pixel was designed from the bottom up with privacy in mind. In order to use this product, the website does not need to collect or send names, email addresses or other contact information to Facebook. We never share information from your website with your competitors or third parties. All information we use is aggregated with millions of other signals before being read by our optimisation systems. Facebook uses information obtained from websites that install pixels to improve its ads (as noted in our terms). This data is aggregated before it's used.
-
The Facebook pixel collects five types of data:
- HTTP headers - Anything present in HTTP headers. HTTP headers are a standard web protocol sent between any browser request and any server on the Internet. HTTP headers include IP addresses, information about the web browser, page location, document, referrer and person using the website.
- Pixel-specific data - This includes pixel ID and the cookie.
- Button click data - This includes any buttons clicked by site visitors, the labels of those buttons and any pages visited as a result of the button clicks.
- Optional values - Developers and marketers can optionally choose to send additional information about the visit through custom data events. Example custom data events are conversion value, page type and more.
- Form Field Names - This includes website field names such as "email", "address" and "quantity" when a person purchases a product or service. The pixel does not capture field values unless an advertiser includes them as part of advanced matching or optional values." - https://www.facebook.com/business/m/privacy-and-data
- In terms of the personal information that may be shared with Meta, this includes contact information such as name, email address, phone number. These are only used for matching purposes. Meta says that this contact information will be hashed prior to sending over for matching purposes. Meta also says that Contact Information will only be used to match the Contact Information against user IDs known as Matched User IDs "...as well as to combine those user IDs with corresponding Event Data. Meta says that they will delete Contact Information after the match process has been conducted. - https://business.facebook.com/legal/technology_terms
- Event data is also shared with Meta (sometimes referred to as Facebook). This includes information on how people have interacted with our website, such as number of visits to our site, purchases of products (e.g. did you purchase, number of products etc.) Meta states "While Event Data does include information collected and transferred when people access a website or app with Facebook Login or Social Plugins (e.g. the Like button), it does not include information created when an individual interacts with our platform via Facebook Login, Social Plugins or otherwise (e.g. by logging in, or liking or sharing an article or song). Information created when an individual interacts with our platform via Facebook Login, Social Plugins or otherwise is governed by the Platform Terms." - https://business.facebook.com/legal/technology_terms. In terms of Event data, Meta says event data is used to "...target your ad campaigns to people who interact with your business. You may direct us to create custom audiences, which are groups of users of Meta Products based on Event Data, to target ad campaigns (including website custom audiences, mobile app custom audiences and offline custom audiences). Meta will process Event Data to create such audiences for you". - https://business.facebook.com/legal/technology_terms
- Meta also assures us that any Business Tools Data that we provide them with (such as from a Meta pixel) that they will not share it with third parties (this includes advertisers) unless we advise them that they are permitted to do so or they are required to do so by law." - https://business.facebook.com/legal/technology_terms
- Meta also states "We will implement processes and procedures to protect the confidentiality and security of the Business Tool Data, including by maintaining appropriate organisational, technical and physical safeguards that are designed to (a) protect the security and integrity of the Business Tool Data while they are within our systems and (b) guard against the accidental or unauthorised access, use, alteration or disclosure of Business Tool Data within our systems. These processes and procedures include the measures listed in Meta's Data Security Terms (as updated from time to time, for example, to reflect technological developments) which are expressly incorporated into these Business Tools Terms." - https://business.facebook.com/legal/technology_terms.
- If you want to opt out of this data collection, you can deny marketing and retargeting cookies on our website (by un-ticking the "MARKETING AND RETARGETING" cookies) and also opting out of behavioural advertising from Facebook by visiting http://www.aboutads.info/choices or http://www.youronlinechoices.eu/ to turn off behaviuoural advertising from Facebook and to stop this collection of data and the use of this information for advert targeting and delivery. You can always update your preference to marketing and retargeting cookies on our website, by clicking "Cookie Preferences" at the bottom of our website and then ticking/unticking "MARKETING AND RETARGETING" cookies. You can also update settings directly on your Facebook account to manage what data is used to show you adverts and to opt out of targeted advertising: https://www.facebook.com/settings/?tab=ads
- In terms of the Meta pixel, Meta provides us with options as to how much data we provide them with. We have opted with the lowest level of data sharing called Conservative. This allows us some advertising performance and customer targeting improvements, however prioritises sharing less information about you. The meta pixel is a third party cookie, that collects and shares customers' browsing behaviours. Browser based ad blockers can prevent the pixel from collecting your information. In terms of exactly what is shared with Conservative, it is page and product views, items added or removed from cart, search terms, customer click ID, customer agent ID, payment information, initated checkout and purchase.
